Stress is a natural human response to its environment which became very significant in today’s hectic world due to dynamic social factor and changing need of life styles. It is a man‘s adaptive reaction to a situation and pressure from the environment that interacts between the situation and the individual itself that could further lead to physical, mental and behavioural changes if the resources of an individual are not sufficient to cope with the demands and pressures of the situation. Stress can undermine the achievement of goals, both for individuals and for institutions. However, moderate levels of stress are considered essential motivators. But high levels of stress can greatly impact physical and emotional health of an individual, specifically in a workplace that seems to be an “abode of stress triggers”. Overtime work, tight deadlines, increasing demands of the customers can leave an employee and as well as the manager feeling worried, uncertain, and overwhelmed by stress. Stress can make a person productive and constructive, when it is identified and well managed.

Today, students are always saying “nakaka stress” because of the academic tasks they need to do or they need to master.also, they are always thinking that every problem they faced has an impact on their life. The effects of these problems, whether in the family or in school, are considered as a stress. But how does an individual fight stress? He can prevent stress by means of the HEALTH component of MAPEH. Under this component, stress, stress management and otherkinds ways to stop stress are discussed and being emphasized.

Stress causes physical, mental and behavioral problems. A person under stress is unable to pay attention to their work; therefore, it can harm them and others in the institution .Stress always requires one to think and this affects his or her academic performance and academic behaviours.

Health, as a component under MAPEH, helps the students in order for them to cope up with the things that bothers them. It offers a lot of learning competencies for the students to master. As expected, this leads to stress-free life owned by the students. If everybody deals on how to cope up with stress through Health component, thenthey are expected to perform greatly not just in MAPEH but also in other subjects they are enrolled in.

The following are the ways to cope up with stress: First, identify the root-cause of stress. One must identify the real cause of stress he or she feels. This will absolutely help him or her in managing the stress he or she feels. Second, find solutions or ways in a healthy way. Although you are stressed, avoid thinking the negative sides of a situation. Rather, think its positive sides or the positive ways to solve the real cause of your stress. Third, accept the things which needs to be accepted. Sometimes, we just have to accept the things that are happening right now. Sometimes we just have to accept the situations we are into. Accepting these sometimes, lessen the feeling of stress we are experiencing. Next, perform physical activities like dancing, jogging, running, and other related physical activities. Lastly, complete the required 8-10 hours of sleep because according to some studies, people got stressed easily because of lack of sleep.

With these, it can be clearly stated that Health, as a component of MAPEH plays a significant role in inhibiting the stress faced by the students be it academically, socially, emotionally and others.
