Mathematics expresses itself everywhere. It helps us to understand the world around us and making life that little bit easier. In addition, learning math involves a different type of thinking that is not addressed in other subjects. But not all people like math as much as others. They see it as the most difficult subject because of its different concepts especially the numbers that when you combined with letters makes it more complicated. Therefore, the teachers should know what interventions they are going to use to deal in this problem.

In order to be actively engaged in the teaching- learning process, students must be well motivated inside the classroom.According to Csikszentmihalyi& Nakamura, 1989 and Pintrich et al., 1993, motivation increases the amount of effort and energy that learners expend in activities directly related to their needs and goals. Thus, motivation is a potential to direct behaviour that is built into the system that controls emotion. This potential may be manifested in cognition, emotion and/or behavior (Hannula, 2004). When students are motivated, they can easily understand what their lesson in math is all about. They will appreciate how important math is especially its concepts and how they can apply/relate those concepts in real life situation.

Since the teacher is the facilitator of learning, they must use different teaching strategies like motivation in order make students actively engage during classroom discussions. There should be a regular communication with the parents about the status of their child inside the classroom. Then by that, the parents can help their child by means of thinking what the best thing they can do to motivate their children to learn. If they found out that their children have problem in learning the subject, then they can help their children by means of guiding them to study when they in their home.
