Have you ever encountered a classroom situation where pupils nervously and fearfully solve problems on the board?
They don’t have any interest at all but rather fear ruled their hearts. They lack enthusiasm to learn, thus incompetency is the result.
On the other hand there are some students who are very eager to learn and solving mathematical problems is just a piece of cake for them. They exhibit precision and accuracy in problem solving. They have fun working with numbers to figure things out and analyze situation. Thus they have understanding of numbers and abstract patterns.
How nice it is to have such pupils who can be called math wizards. Teachers are very eager to develop among their pupils the interest and enthusiasm for mathematic subjects.
Games, colorful and varied visual aids of instructional materials therefore are used to arouse interest of pupils aside from various exercises and activities applied in their lessons to enhance their interest in mathematics. But still, there are pupils who fail thus receive poor grades in their performance.
In order for our pupils to attain success in learning mathematics, here are additional enhancers (HenryTenedero’s “Breaking the I.Q. Myth”.)
- Work on puzzles found in newspapers and magazines.
- Watch television programs featuring scientific concepts like in Discovery Channel
- Conduct family discussions on mathematics and science.
- Learn different computer language such as cobolic visuals basic: e, java, or paradox
- Work with Lego bricks and similar toys.
- Take a basic on advanced course in science and mathematics.
- Watch developments in the stockmarket and financial pages.
- Calculate and solve mathematic problems mentally
- Establish or lead a Mathematics or Science Club
