Amedicinal plantis a plant that has similar properties as conventional pharmaceutical drugs. Humans have used them throughout history to either cure or lessen symptoms from an illness. A pharmaceutical drugis a drug that is produced in a laboratory to cure or help an illness. Typically, pharmaceutical drugs are modeled after compounds found in medicinal plants.
Medicinal plantshave been identified and used throughout human history. Plants make many chemical compounds that are for biological functions, including defence againstinsects,fungiandherbivorousmammals.
IMPORTANCE OF MEDICINAL PLANTS
Plants are extremely useful for us. Plants have different uses in our daily lives specially in the field of medicine. Some of the useful plants can be found at the backyard such as Lagundi
( Vitex negundo) that can cure a cough, Bitter Melon (Momordica charantia) for the treatment of diabetes, Banaba (Lagerstroemia speciosa) wherein the bark, flowers and leaves are being used to facilitiate bowel movements. There are alot of plants that can be useful to us, we only have to be more knowledgeable on how to use the different ;medicinal plants.
Medicinal plants have a promising future because there are about half million plants around the world, and most of them their medical activities have not investigate yet, and their medical activities could be decisive in the treatment of present or future studies.
