For many generations, projects in our country, lead and being monitored by Department of Health (DOH) and its recent activity is deworming. The main objective of this project is to eliminate body worms such as tapeworms, ascaris, hookworms and etc. from the bodies of the youngsters. Their target population ranges from the ages 1 to 18 years old which is mostly student population from schools. The process of deworming in the Philippines is approved by the World Health Organization (WHO) and given to the students with a parental consent.

It is an advantage for most students who had this opportunity to be dewormed for free since private deworming is considered to be expensive by the middle-class families. Body worms live on our internal organs and feed from what we already had ingested. For that reason it causes malnutrition to its victim, making them harder to focus on studies. Most students with worms suffer from hunger every time even though have full meal. But every student will be dewormed surely opposite of this will happen. Most importantly, after the process of deworming.

If safety would be asked, the tablet has already been tested first and it was approved by the WHO. Even though there might be cases of headache, dizziness, stomach ache, vomiting and LBM during the process it will be all advantages afterwards. Free deworming is offered twice a year, every January and July, on health centers and some schools in partnership with Department of Education.
