All of us continuously gains knowledge as we live through life. With proper guidance and use, knowledge can turn things around for the good influence it can bring to others. Basically, people find ways to make things happen. Unfortunately, not all may be good or bad. It is from here that good leadership principles are born.
It is a fact that there are always the good and the bad leaders. It is also the case in having the good and the bad principles in leading that are being practiced in the different fields of endeavor and work. In between the good and the bad leadership are principles that are to be learned, observed and to improve on.
Principle # 1, leading is being able to adapt with the needs of the time and situation. Needs may vary in sizes and priorities. Adaptability is the awareness of real-time situations at hand and the application of corresponding solutions to address them. When a leader is adaptable, any situation can be readily handled with timely solutions rather than having to wait for the time for things to settle down. At work, inaction can lead to negative results. Adaptability is important for leaders because they are supposed to be in the know as to where they are coming from and where they are heading.
Next is Principle # 2, after settling with adaptability, leading needs to have a plan. Planning is about putting up a manageable work set-up in order to achieve a desired goal. It is about defining weaknesses and pinpointing strengths without setting aside the risks therein. A plan is not ideal when it is only made by one person. Leaders gather the involved persons in an endeavor for the minds to meet, contribute, and share with the responsibility of setting targets through strategic approaches to reach the objective. The planned use of resources is vital in putting up the perspectives that will work for the advantage of the whole group. During a planning session, sharing of views will also mean the sharing of responsibilities.
Principle # 3 is organizing. All things will work according to plan when the team is well-organized. It is an important aspect in the function of a leader. When things are in order, the needed adjustments can be facilitated during implementation that will be able to save time instead of losing it due to unnecessary bottlenecks. Being organized like a well-oiled machine can lead to greater productivity.
Good working principles will all be in vain unless regular monitoring is within the process. Monitoring consolidates the efficiency and effectiveness of the work flow towards the achievement of better results.
