Being one of the most challenging subjects in the field of education, mathematics should entice everyone most especially the young ones to involve themselves in studying the subject.

How to make math be more appealing can be realized through the following, to wit:

Make use of illustrations. Learners would love to see if there pictures and drawings supplement their understanding.  These visual representations stimulate their interest and lead them to listen and involve themselves in learning the subject.  The wonders of computers can make these drawings move and come alive due to the ability of technology to create artistry in electronic means.

Cite stories.  By means of stories and other practical situations, the students will find mathematics more inviting.  Having related and relevant stories to teach various skills and competencies in math will aid the students to embrace the subject in its very essence.  Stories may also be about famous icons that established math.  They will serve as their models and inspirations in pursuing further studies.

Utilize various instructional devices.  The magic of improvised materials made by teachers are still useful and functional in teaching math.  By the colorful and inventive materials produced by teachers, the students’ attention will be captured.

Let the students involve themselves in the process.  They say that teachers are the facilitators and the learners are the active agents.  So, it is expected that the learners should engage themselves in various activities in the class.  The math teachers should give them the opportunity to discover learning by themselves and be more critical.

Let them work together for a common goal or purpose. Have them work together as a team or group will be more appealing to the learners. They will truly experience the zest and joy of being together if they are solving various math problems being one in a group.

Develop their higher order thinking skills.  In order to make math more challenging, the teachers should pave the way for the students to level up in their thinking by giving more stimulating problems and exciting questions.  Students love the things that make them use their best potential most especially in math subject.
