The Human Capital Theory stated, “The economic development of a nation is a function of the quality of its education”. The better education is when more people enjoy the privilege of it so to have greater possibility of the economic development.
During the 50’s or 60’s, the Philippines was the country at the top of the heap in Southeast Asia. Even other countries believed that Philippines will be the most industrialized one. Perhaps, in the past years, there had been issues regarding the new program in our education. People on the positions argued on where to get the fund that they will be using for the program. K-12 is the latest curriculum in the Philippines; it aims to improve the quality of education in the country. On the third year of its implementation, there are still some issues needed to be settled like facilities, resources and teachers with expertise to handle the students.
On the other hand, K-12 will be a big help not just on our society but also to our family and to ourselves. Its products will be skilled, talented, goal-oriented and fully equipped. They will be globally competitive. K-12 will provide a clear view which career students may take. This may lead to less number of drop-outs and more chances of success on the student’s side.
Change is inevitable; so, the people must accept it especially when it will lead us to a better society. Success cannot be attained without enduring the pain, hurts and sacrifices.
