Achieving fitness is a continuous process. A person, of course, the student in particular needs to undergo various  fitness tasks to keep him aware of his current condition.

Speaking of physical fitness assessment, one must know especially students that it is an integral part of Physical Education program designed primarily to teach fitness concepts in relation to health, work and quality life.

Generally, physical fitness programs are designed to improve your muscular strength, endurance, and hence your work output and efficiency. As a result, the knowledge, skills, and attitudes acquire in physical fitness will make the students aware of the importance of the holistic wellness and fitness of the body, mind and spirit.

Although it is sad to note that that some students take for granted their Physical Education classes. They say a Physical Education subject is a non-academic subject and therefore, they pay less attention to Physical Education.

Due to this wrong attitude towards Physical Education subjects, the Department of Education has incorporated music, art and health together with physical education thus creating MAPEH as one subject with various learning segments.

Going back to physical fitness assessment, students must know that they should gradually increase their physical activity in order to stay within their target fitness zone. How much physical activity do students need. We have a formula to follow to increase their physical activity.

Frequency, Intensity, Type and Time (FITT) are the variables involved in planning the amount of physical activity necessary. These variables are interrelated, so changing one many require a change in another.

MAPEH teacher, particularly in the physical education learning process, should monitor the activity schedule of their students to maintain consistency. Remember that it takes longer to build strength or endurance than it does to lose it.
