The topic on Person with Disabilities or PWDs can always be heard during the lesson particularly at Edukasyon sa Pagpapakatao. Do we need to prioritize or establish a program regarding these cases and what preventive measures or programs can we do so that the children with disabilities will be taken care inside school?

Accordingly, disabled pupils are not physically fit in nature (an inability to walk due to amputation, or muscular or neurological dysfunction, for example), with sensory problem (as in blindness, or deafness), with cognitive difficulties (as in brain damage or mental retardation), behavioral problem (as in an inability to work), or even emotionally disturbed.

Pupils who experienced physical and sensory problems are considered major impediments to participating in normal society. One possible upside to being disabled can come as a result of no longer being able to take simple things for granted by the other children or even adult. The integration of lesson on consciousness and acceptance for disabled person should be given major concern during the lesson.

Every School can be engaged in the development of persons with disabilities. School staffs would be enjoined to maximize their efforts in creating a society for the attainment of the full economic and social development of our disabled children. This can be done in school if they will support “International Day of Persons with Disabilities in the Philippines” every year. The advocacy of concerning the persons with disabilities can be more productive, lasting and meaningful if all disabled children are properly monitored. Always bear in mind that children with disabilities need priority, attention and action.
