On the practical side, Technology and Livelihood Education (TLE) is a learning area which teaches the real life to the students. It prepares the individual to be more productive and progress. Thus, it teaches the values of industry, hard work and perseverance.
TLE has significant facets or areas that further focus on different specializations which are truly contributory to the development and enhancement of the potentialities of the school learners, hence teaching them the practicality of life.
Home Economics. As the words connote, Home Economics deals with the management of the things and activities in the house. From simple household chore of cleaning to the most complex ways of preparing foods, Home Economics truly covers a lot. A learner may be able to learn the basics and be used to the most difficult tasks at home.
Agriculture and Fisheries.Agriculture may develop the industry of planting and raising animals to our dear learners. Further, they will learn to value the other living creatures which they can even find in their own backyard. Also, the students may be indulged in small-scale fishing activities and may even touch the processing and preservation of fish.
Industrial Arts. The art of carpentry and other industrial activities dealing with mechanisms or machines may be covered by this area. The schoolchildren may be instructed on the activities of using tools or equipment being used in making of the house and other structures.
Information and Communication Technology (ICT). This is very much prevalent nowadays for almost everything is operated by the computer. From software to hardware, ICT gives all the information that students must learn. Moreover, ICT at present is also taught in school in relation with outsourcing industry like the call center.
Entrepreneurship.The students are taught to be indulged in business. Being a part of the curriculum TLE gives importance to the development of the child as an entrepreneur. It teaches one to manage a simple proprietorship for their financial gain someday.
All of these facets are significant in the development and progress of the learners. Technology and Livelihood Education or TLE subject certainly teaches all of the knowledge, skills and expertise that the students owe to know for them to have a productive tomorrow.
