Getting into the world of teaching is also standing as a Noble Professional. Expectations are as high as the highest mountain that has ever existed, because being a teacher demands of being responsible for the world to become better. It is to mold every person to be a great foundation in the society.
Being a teacher is not that easy because you’re the first person that is being looked up by your students. You have to be very sensitive and keen when it comes to giving information, advices, and even the way you live your life, so it’s not that easy being an ideal one. The following characteristics of a teacher will serve as a window for you to see how you’re going to become an effective, and globally competitive.
“An Influencer.” School is considered as a second home of a learner. Most of the student’s time is being spent at school, so it gives an impact on their growth as an individual. They are with their teachers and classmates the whole class hours, and a good major influence should be provided and analyze by the teacher, on how he is going to provide that effectively. But remember, you cannot give what you don’t have. Every word you’re saying reflects the way you’re living your life. Touching the student’s mind is the major goal, but it also comes with touching their emotions, their heart. It is a must to inspire students.
“A Role Model.” Learners are great imitators. Either good or bad, they tend to emulate everything they observe from their environment. When you ask a learner “what do you wanted to be when you grow up?” and follow up a question “Why”, most of the answers come from being exposed to people with great influence, someone they admire and aspire to be like. As a teacher, we should encourage everyone to strive for greatness, live their fullest potentials and see best on themselves.
“A Parent.” Being considered as “second parents” of the learners, they should see the love and sincere care from their parents, that we should also portray. Our profession doesn’t start with greeting the class and ending up with an assignment. Your student’s world doesn’t revolve in studying, they also have their personal lives to live. It is required to check your student’s progress, recitations, assignments and examinations, but there is also a need to check your student’s state of being. Reach out for those who are in need, talk to them and make them feel they’re safe with your hands. Give them the security they need.
There are still more to consider, but the above mentioned are called the “essentials” and must be portrayed first. Teachers must have those three characteristics for them to become effective, competitive and transformative assets of the society.
