A teacher fully knows that teaching is a tough job.Every student is utterly unique,with different learning styles,strengths,weaknesses,interests,experiences and motivations.Students place demands on them that require teachers to respond with their own being body,mind and spirit.
It is with this context that teachers need much talents and skills,innovations and researches related to her class.After all,their primary concern must be their students.Aside from possessing dignity and reputation with high moral values as well as technical and professional competence,they must also be innovators.According to Webster’s Dictionary,an innovator is one who can effect change on learning,since she must be an expert in,what she/he teaches and in how he/she teaches.But how can a teacher be an innovator?Is it enough that she/he come to class punctually?Or it is enough that she/he teaches according to a well prepared daily lesson plan?All of these are the compelling forces that emerge from one’s love of children.If you love children and you have passion for teaching,innovation is not far to be realized.
A teacher innovator is open minded.This is basic in monitoring respect and trust between teachers and students.He or she must be sincere and honest in words and action,or else students will not believe the innovation he/she is introducing.
An innovator is highly professional,meaning he is knowledgeable,skilled and value laiden.He/she catches attention,because he/she doesn’t stop in researching and discovering and utilizing different strategies that will help his/her students attained high performance rating,since he/she can catch students’ attention and keep them focused on the topic at hand.He is always one or more steps ahead over her/his students.She/he imparts her/his knowledge clearly and accurately.He/she is there to soothe feelings of students away from tension and fear.
A Teacher must be an innovator.He/she does not just teach,but effect change on learning.He/she must be open-minded,sincere and honest in words and in action,knowledgeable ,skilled and value-laiden.That is what an “innovator teacher” is.
