It is often said that it takes a certain type of person to be a great leader. These individuals exhibit qualities like passion, integrity, a take-charge attitude and the ability to inspire others. Employers and executives recognize this, and these “born leaders” are often first in line for promotions to leadership roles.

But people with leadership potential don’t simply become leaders to train the next generation, showing them how to guide a group of people toward a specific vision or goal.

Whether your organization has a structured training program or you are simply taught to by example, here are a few key things to keep in mind when you are lined up to be a future  leader.

There must not be favoritism. The right person to be trained must be the right person, one who has exhibited leadership traits. It is not that the boss likes him, so he will be a potential successor. Integrity and fairness matter most in a leader.

Communication is important. It is an important part of any successful relationship, and the relationship between leader and team member is no different. Express your ideas clearly, making sure employers/employees understand what you’re asking of them or him/her.Create a conversation friendly environment, and give the employees to express their thoughts and concerns. Team members are more willing to trust a leader with whom they are able to openly communicate.

The following are some attitudes that a teacher-leader must do:

Think of innovative ideas. Teacher-leaders are always thinking of the best practices and  innovations that can be benchmarked in their classroom.

Look into the future- You must have plan in the things that they will do and are planning to do.

Passion is contagious. The teacher-leader is passionate in all the things he/she does and lastly the teacher-leader must Know Himself. He/she must identify his/her real self, to know his   limitations and capabilities.
