They say that the millennial students are students different from the past generation of learners. They are more curious, more assertive and more critical. In line with this, the teacher has to espouse new ways in order to educate them very well and to satisfy their needs.
Have learner-centered and personalized instructions. The teacher has to fit the lesson to every kind of learner. It is advisable that the teacher has to determine the need of each student in order apply the type of approach that is suitable and applicable. Aside from making the learner as the center and focus of the teaching-learning process, there are certain things that should be taught to specific learner/s in order to achieve the so called personalized instruction.
Make students as producers of outputs. Let the students be more active in yielding educational outputs are they are being faced with the learning experiences in the classroom. It is not merely listening but it is an active participation in achieving outputs. Since K to 12 Program is output-based, the teachers must stimulate the learners to create outputs in every class activity in various learning areas.
Teach new technologies. The students at present are fond technology. The likes of computer and robotics are perfect examples of technology-generated inventions. It is only necessary to teach students knowledge in computer and robotics for them to be more abreast with the latest technologies that education offers. Teaching new technologies may further improve their critical and logical thinking in handling the latest man’s ingenuities.
Be globally updated. The teacher must be more resourceful and updated in terms of the lessons and insights to be taught. The teacher must be well-abreast with the latest knowledge that the world offers. Thus, he or she will be able to impart more information to the learners. Keep in touch with the latest things and share them to the millennial students. With this, you are sharing advancement for their enhancement.
Be Smart. The teacher should be the picture of confidence and wit. Having exuded the trait of being smart may greatly influence the students helping them to build confidence for themselves. The epitome of being smart must be transferred to the educational clientele in order for them to boost their morale as productive learners. Teaching the millennial students to be smart is essential nowadays.
Have Collaboration. It is a better practice if the teacher encourages collaboration in the classroom setting. Having students pooled ideas together may be more productive and fruitful. Having them shared insights may build within them trust and camaraderie.
These are the suggested ways for the teachers in educating and honing the millennial students. Think and imbibe them in your teaching practices.
