According to English author Edward Bulwer-Lytton, “The pen is mightier than the sword.” This quote is a reminder that words—either written, read, or spoken—have a more powerful impact than we think. In our society today, more often than not, people get into arguments over political views and opinions. The disagreement among them often leads to violence and hostility. However, time and time again, it has been proven that violence does not solve anything. Words, or communication, is the key.
Effective communication is achieved through education. There are many different political issues in our country that we need to learn about and be aware of. We need to understand the explanation or reason behind them in order to make an enlightened opinion. It is through being educated about these issues that we can come up with different logical solutions. It is also important to have an open mind and understand those who have different views in order to see the wider scope of things.
Education in a society like ours is a very important factor in making sure the youth are aware of the country’s current affairs and, more importantly, are able to share meaningful insights. It is also a way to make sure that they will not turn to hostility when there are misunderstandings but rather, use effective communication to get their points across.
