The K-12 Program of the Department of Education, Does it Makes Sense or Not?

Way back 2016 the K-12 Education was realized/implemented. All sorts of reactions gained the attention of the public.          Way back 2016 the K-12 Education was realized/implemented. All sorts of reactions gained the attention of the public. To put into account,  a  great number of negative commentaries were freely expressed through oral and written arguments.

To note, the lowest strata of the Philippines society were the strongest opposition of the K-12 implementation.

At the back of their minds, the additional 2 years in high school of their child/children is a big burden in terms of extended allowances, uniforms/shoes/school supplies and worst/TIME/MONEY/and EFFORTS!

But to no avail the K-12 program was pushed to its realization.

For the purpose of argument and  enlightment , allow me to share a piece of my impressions regarding the perks of the K-12 Program…

Based on  my readings , K-12 Education starts  from Kindergarten and 12years of Basic Education while covers  six years in Elementary Education, four years in  Middle School and two years in Grades 11 and 12.

In this regard, What are the advantages  of this educational leap? or good aspects of this educational leap?  To explain   K-12 Education will provide enough time to achieve the most crucial “MASTERY  OF CONCEPTS” for our learner  also it will enhance  their  skills and the most importantly prepare their road towards college life.

If  these goals were achieved,  opportunity for our graduates  will be easier.

If memory serves me right,  Philippines is the only country in Asia or  perhaps around the world which requires its learners four years only in high school.

  But things have changed!

“With the K-12 Program in the house”, our learners will be  trained to adapt the global changes because of its  spiral  curriculum,  holistic  approach, which  focuses in developing  skills : life skills.

In view of these  how can we go wrong? We, as a long term developing country must also explore  and accept the innovative trends which our neighboring countries did.

We are heading towards 21st century ____a  world of technology and innovations.
