I still remember when I was an elementary student, when education is not yet complicated. Teachers have most time to teach focusing on their subject matters, when during October is the busiest month in preparation for Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts and when December is the most exciting month because of Christmas party. Life there is simple, but the bonding moment experienced by students like me is truly remarkable. Pupils by that time are enough for that only small classroom that considered to be a second home, that most of the time I want to stay their than in our house, simply because the ambiance is so enough to capture the interest of my young mind. Yes, simple. We have a simple education by that time, there are no such extracurricular activities like today, and we are much focused on basic skills that everyone should learn. Like reading, writing and counting. But these basic skills became our path to reach our goals in life. The fruits of that endeavour are what we experience today. Thank you for those memorable years of the 90’s that leads us to feel the happiness on this modern day.
And now that I am one of the teachers, I can see and feel the difference of this modern day, when teachers are very much busy in writing reports, when during their class hours is also the time of coaching their pupils that will join different contests. Wherein every month has reports to be passed and the different contests that needs to be participated. Being a teacher is not only about teaching but definitely it is about everything. A mother and a friend to your students; a doctor that ease the pain of pupils; the counsellor that mediates in trouble; a farmer that planted vegetables because ofGulayan Contest; a proprietor that handles the canteen; an event organizer and most of all the psychologist that understands the different behaviour of their beloved students. That’s becoming a teacher, a great and noble vocation that cannot be surpassed by other profession.
