Presentations have been a staple part of teaching.  With the advent of technology, making presentations absolutely enhanced the lessons.  Aside from its use in the daily teaching process, teachers also benefit from it when directed to discuss something to a more matured audience.

When making presentations, there are certain things which a teacher must avoid.  Most important, do not begin your presentation with an apology.  This gives the audience the impression that you are not ready and prepared for the presentation.

Another thing to avoid is to have long introduction.  Long introductions bore the audience and you instantly loss their attention because of hearing and seeing nothing but non-sense introduction to the topic.  As much as possible, avoid using any kind of note.  Having notes during presentation distracts the audience and gives the impression that you do not have a mastery of the topic assigned.

Foremost, do not express anything negative.  There are better ways to say things and that is to present everything in positive.  Negative things connote uncertainty and this affects the mood of the audience.  Inspire your audience with positive views and let them digest the topic and decide on what view to take.

Presentations make things easier for teachers.  But be reminded that there is always another side of the coin.  Make things happen and let your presentations make it for you.
