                    Many students cannot pursue a college degree because of the limited income of the family,but if these students have an inclination to arts and designs, possess creativity, follow trends and fashion, and have sewing skills, then they may start a career in dressmaking.

                   Garments course is a component of Technology and Livelihood Education (TLE) subject, therefore, it is assumed that students have already acquired sewing skills. Aspiring dressmakers should at least complete their high school education to enhance morewhatever skills they already possess. In addition, they must also have good communication skills to deal better with the customers or clients.In addition, dressmakers must be creative in making their own patterns to produce a well-fitted dress/

                      A beginning dressmaker must have a good taste on fashion and design and a keen observation on what styles are trending. Moreover, to be organized, dressmakers must have a journal or notebook with different fashion ideas and  styles, trends, color combinations, and price of fabrics.

            A good way so that the dressmakers’work will be recognized, is to wear them in public. If they have kids, they may dress them with the dresses they have sewn. They can also enter their works in a local fair or bazaar, they can display their products through online, and they may advertise their works through word of mouth among friends and to others.

                        To be known to customers a dressmaker must possess the ability to be precise in measuring, fitting and marking. Traditionally, dressmaking is only a career for women, however at present, it is an acceptable career for all, and it is a proper way to earn a living to augment family income.

                    Beginning dressmakers usually earn minimum wage, while dressmakers with more than five years and those already sewing bridal gowns will certainly be famous in dressmaking and will earn more.

                    With dressmaking career or business, there will be a very considerable opportunities. With a little marketing, this career will flourish
