Currently, the Department of Education is encouraging the teachers to improve and enhance their students’ academic achievement in all subject areas through the use of interventions. Interventions are the tools to further enrich the students’ learning. Teacher should consider the following in choosing the right intervention to be used to their learners:
The interventions should be suitable. The teacher should consider interventions which are appropriate to the subject and to the lesson. In doing this, the students will easily understand the concepts.
The interventions should be attainable. The teacher must think that the intervention can be easily achieved. Possible activities are expected to be conducted in the attainment of the intervention.
The interventions should be the latest. The teachers should consider the most updated and timely interventions for them to answer the needs of the learners. In this way, the students will appreciate the activities comprising the intervention.
The interventions should follow the standards. The interventions which teachers should implement to improve the academic performance of learners should be aligned with the standards prescribed by the Department of Education, for if the standard is followed, quality is yielded.
The interventions should make use of technology. There are the interventions at present which make use of computer and this will easily educate the learners thus their academic performances will be enhanced.
The interventions should deepen the student’s understanding. The interventions to be applied should not only teach the basic ones but could also strengthen and deepen their knowledge.
The interventions should be enjoyable. The teachers should introduce interventions which are enjoyable. Have them dynamic activities which will not only sharpen their minds but will also boost their spirits.
Interventions are highly effective if they are wisely chosen and done with great consideration.
