Dealing with slow learner pupils are the heart and soul of a school because they are the reason why the school functions. Every pupil is unique individual. Pupils have different learning capacity and some are quick learners, whereas others take time to learn and they are what we call slow learners.

Let’s be aware that slow learners are not non-learners, they are special learners and few adjustment in their learning process can make a big difference. So the teacher played an important role on the success of the slow learners in school. They must apply extra effort in teaching those pupils. Not only extra effort but also extra time, extra love, extra energy, extra patience and extra power, extra motivation and extra initiative….that is why  teachers are super humans and super hero! So let’s give our big heart to our pupils who need us badly because they need our attention more than the bright one.

Know the slow learners in all shapes and sizes, they can come from any race or nationality, they are shy learners, emotional unstable learners, not motivated learners and the not interested learners. This is a big challenge for educators……please make a meaningful learning experience to them. Teachers must apply different strategies and methods in assessing the lessons, provide activities that are creative and interesting and make sure that the activities’ and instructions are given clearly and sometimes repeatedly for them to really understand it.

Live and learn with them. Let’s encourage the child to take part in activities that they like to do at the school. Maintain open communication, interaction between the teacher and the learners help build good relationship especially on the part of the learners and also let the parents took their part also. Celebrate their success once they improve. Give many encouraging words and praises often to boost their self-confidence. Let’s help the slow learners and let’s make an effort for them to learn. Let’s listen to them and lift them up. Inspire, encourage, enrich and above all let’s make a difference in their lives…let’s make an impact!
