It is becoming increasingly difficult to ignore the fact that the use of ICT is part of our everyday life. One of the requirements for newly qualified teachers of the National Curriculum is to be able to use ICT in their teaching. Supported by the government, schools are trying to enhance learners’ subject knowledge by making connections among the studied subjects and the new technology. This will stimulate learners to learn more effectively and also continue their educational development.
People can learn more effectively in a well controlled environment, and therefore the use of computers was introduced as teaching machines. Computers can help students, including those with special needs, to develop their independence and overcome difficulties which might occur in the process of normal school work.
The vast majority of teachers use computers to give instructions to students during lessons. The
ways they can do this is by setting pupils to investigate problems on line using the internet or assign them to use computer applications. Teachers can guide students through the entire process of learning and give them the necessary support. Certainly, this will stimulate students’ curiosity and lead towards their own ways of solving problems.
