In regards to the child’s educational needs and successes, parent-teacher conferences are made to keep us on the same page. Foundations of learningand social skills are set in early environment that is why cooperation between parents and teachers is most important to help the students learn and practice appropriate behaviours.

During a parent-teacher conference, the teacher should be professional. She/he should dress appropriately and start the meeting on time. Parents should not feel rushed that is why it is advisable to schedule ample of time. Bear in mind that you should dress appropriately and start the meeting on time.

Be well-prepared. Discuss any concerns or accomplishments about the learners. Take time to write out in details the learners behaviour, interactions and progress you have noticed. Prepare to show the learners progress and discuss it with the parents.

Be open and encouraging. Let the parents know you are open to any suggestions with regards to their child’s behaviour, and that you are available to listen to their comments and concerns. Sharing techniques and strategies for controlling and minimizing inappropriate behaviours helps to establish uniform rules at school and at home.
